Who are Egg & Spoon?

We are the producers of a range of New Zealand-made artisan pantry staples, including gourmet seasonings Wild Fennel Co. and the popular Dog Town Mustard range. We make all of our products by hand using only natural ingredients, drawing on our wealth of experience in food and cooking to create products of outstanding quality and flavour. We pride ourselves in creating unique pantry staples that not only taste amazing but look beautiful too.

Egg & Spoon is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Dan and Jo Pearson, based in Dunedin, New Zealand. Dan is a former fine-dining chef, and in every pinch of seasoning or spoon of mustard you can taste the 20 years of his experience in kitchens with some of the world’s best ingredients at his disposal.

Our Story

Our business began back in 2012 when we hosted a series of sell-out pop-up restaurant events called Egg & Spoon. The name has held a special place in our hearts ever since.

Yearning for a more family-friendly lifestyle we launched the Wild Fennel Co. range in 2014 as a small selection of herb and spice blends, selling at local farmers markets and then on to a handful of stockists. As the business grew we weren't content sitting still, and so we began brainstorming new product ideas. In 2019 we launched Dog Town Mustard, a range of flavoursome, punchy mustards with a vintage vibe.

Both brands have grown a lot since then and can be found on shelves all over New Zealand. We have other products in the pipeline, so be sure to watch this space for new and exciting pantry staples to come!
